TotalEnergies Signs 15-Year Renewable Energy Deal With Google for Ohio Solar Farm
TotalEnergies has secured a strategic 15-year power purchase agreement with Google to supply 1.5 terawatt hours annually from its 49-megawatt Montpelier solar facility in Ohio. The project, nearing completion on the PJM Interconnection grid, will directly support Google's data center operations with certified renewable electricity.
The deal accelerates TotalEnergies' US renewable expansion, which includes a 10-gigawatt portfolio spanning solar, wind and battery storage assets. For the French energy giant, the contract contributes to achieving 12% profitability targets in its power generation segment while diversifying from volatile fossil fuel markets.
Google continues executing its carbon-free energy strategy through such long-term agreements. The tech firm systematically partners with developers to bring new renewable capacity online in grid regions where it operates energy-intensive data centers.
